Pink PSP

The Pink PSP is in limited supply in the UK. The Pink PSP models that are currently available are the Pink PSP Slim and Lite (or pink PSP 2000) and the original Pink PSP, sometimes called the PSP Base console.

Sony has not yet released a Pink PSP 3000, the latest model which was released last year. Normally new colours are first released in Japan and there is no sign of a pink option for the immediate future.

So, if you want a pink PSP then you will need to opt for one of the original models, which is not a major issue since you can still play all of the same games in these models anyway. The major differences between these and the newer models is the size and weight.

Pink PSP - Design and Colour Options

The pink PSP console could well be the most gorgeous looking handheld gaming consoles currently available. The colour is actually known as 'rose pink', which describes it beautifully.

The PSP console is currently available in eleven different colours across the globe: piano black, ceramic white, ice silver, mystic silver, rose pink, deep red, champagne gold, Felicia blue, mint green, lavender purple, and metallic blue. The only colour that is currently available in all markets around the world is the piano black version.

Pink PSP Slim & Lite or Pink PSP 2000

The pink PSP Slim & Lite is the second generation (PSP 2000) of the PSP, weighing 189gms, which is nearly 33% lighter than its predecessor. This model was released a couple of years ago.

To achieve the slim and light look, some very radical changes had to be brought into the hardware. The newer PSP Slim & Lite came without a metal chassis and hence lesser bulk. A thinner and brighter screen, an improved WLAN and microcontroller, built in microphone, better power efficiency and 64 MB memory made the PSP Slim & Lite a much more powerful device than its predecessor.

The pink PSP is now approaching its fourth version following its initial release in 2004, and features a wide high resolution screen and awesome gaming capabilities!

The PSP 3000 has a brighter LCD screen with increased color range, increased contrast ratio, a built in microphone and anti reflective technology. The device was far better received than the previous versions on account of better technology and design. A pink PSP 3000 option does not exist at the time of writing.

Future Pink PSP's?

Sony have been releasing details of the next generation called the PSP Go. Once again there are no immediate plans to release a Pink PSP Go. The launch colours for the PSP Go are black and white, which is hardly a revolutionary step from Sony.

The PSP Go is 43% lighter and 56% smaller than the original PSP and comes with 16 gigabytes of internal flash memory.

The device includes built in stereo speakers, a headphone jack, two USB ports, 1800 mAh battery and IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi.

The PSP is underpinned by some powerful high-tech hardware. The console usess on two 333 MHz MIPS32 R4000-based CPUs. There is also a dedicated graphics processing unit. The processors are supported by 32 MB main RAM and 4 MB embedded DRAM.

Sony accessories include an power supply, car adapter, headset, headphones with remote control, extended-life battery, battery charger, carrying case, accessories pouch and cleaning cloth, and system pouch and wrist strap.
