Pink PSP Slim & Lite

We keep getting asked about the differences between the different models of the pink PSP. Basically you have the original pink PSP which has then been updated to become the pink PSP Slim and Lite. As well as being smaller and lighter the pink PSP Slim and Lite enabled the console owner to watch higher resolution videos via the UMD and the memory stick. More memory had been added to improve load times of videos and games.

One common issue is that if you search in google you will find around 12 million results for the phrase 'PSP Slim and Lite' versus approaching 2 million results for 'PSP Slim and Light'. Don't worry - they are talking about the same console!

The Pink PSP Slim & Lite was an minor update to the original Playstation Portable, coming about two and a half years after the first version hit the shops. Sony took into account feedback from users and the main changes are essentially reflected in the name of the new model, firstly it was thinner by about 20% ('slim') and lighter by about one third of its original weight('lite').

Various minor improvements were also made to the pink PSP hardware such as repositioning of the d-pad controller in response to complaints about poor feedback when using it, the repositioning of the memory stick port as people were occassionally breaking them, and the introducion of charging via the USB port.

There has been an impact on reduced battery life, which Sony subsequently fixed by the release of a more powerful battery pack
